Partnership with Simmons University

Over a decade ago, Simmons University began planning the future of its two campuses, and a vision for the university as a sustainable, responsible, and vital member of the Boston community. This plan known as “One Simmons”, includes the combining of their bifurcated campus which currently includes the Residence Campus, located along Brookline Avenue, and the Main Academic Campus, located at 300 Fenway.

The final phase of One Simmons includes the construction of a “Living and Learning Center” on the University’s Academic Campus, a state-of-the-art building that will provide an athletic and wellness center, a two-level dining hall, and approximately 1,100 dormitory beds to replace existing student housing and uses on the Residence Campus. Upon completion of the Living and Learning Center by the Proponent, the Simmons Residence Campus will be leased under a 99-year ground lease to Skanska for redevelopment.

Design Team

The Project is envisioned as a collection of distinctive architecture with cutting-edge sustainability, seamlessly connected by a network of open spaces, and activated by ground level community and retail uses. To achieve this goal Skanska has intentionally engaged different teams to design each of the buildings and landscape associated with the Project.
